Five years ago he founded the charity Sense About Science, of which he is chairman, to promote the evidence-based approach to the public discussion of scientific issues. He is the author of “The March of Unreason – Science, Democracy and the New Fundamentalism” (Oxford University Press) and in 2006 he was voted by the Association of British Science Writers “Parliamentary Science Communicator of the Year”.
