AbstractThis article reviews Nicholas M. Teich's Transgender 101: A Simple Guide to a Complex Issue, a concise introductory work on the topic. The text is an excellent resource on transsexuality but marginalizes and at times misunderstands genderqueer and other nonbinary identities, which are how many trans youth identify today.KEYWORDS: Book reviewgender nonconformityintroductiontranstransgendertranssexuality Additional informationNotes on contributorsGenny BeemynGenny Beemyn, PhD, is the director of The Stonewall Center at University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the trans policy clearinghouse coordinator for Campus Pride.
