Тhe article analyzes the initiative of the European Commission aimed at optimizing social security systems and labor market functioning, combating the most urgent problems of social and economic development: poverty and inequality caused by high levels of long-term and youth unemployment, gender inequality in the labor market. The current situation and the dynamics of the labor market are also considered. The analysis allows us to conclude that there is a positive relationship between the application of various instruments of social policy, increasing motivation and productivity, increasing mobility and the positive dynamics of the socio-economic indicators of the European Union
