The temporal behaviour of 146 aftershock sequences distributed on the subduction zones in the circum-Pacific belt is examined. Almost all of the sequences were modelled well by Omori's relation. The well-known parameter p (or p-value) is the expression of the aftershock decay with time. Mean p-values are estimated for the east and west parts of the circum-Pacific belt. The different p-values estimated for these areas are statistically tested, and an interpretation regarding the tectonics is given.
