A low power, thermoelectrically cooled Si(Li) X-ray spectrometer has been built and evaluated. The temperature of the detector assembly, detector leakage currents at several bias voltages and spectrometer resolution have been studied for cooler input power levels over the range of 1.25 to 4.5 W. An ultimate resolution of 190 eV (FWHM for 5.9 keV X-rays) has been achieved for this 16 mm2 detector.
