Non-epithelial ovarian tumours account for approximately 10% of all ovarian cancers. Malignant germ cell tumours (GCTs) occur mainly in young women whereas the most common type of sex cord-stromal tumours (SCSTs), i.e. granulosa cell tumour, occurs more often in middle age and in postmenopausal women 1. Malignant GCTs represent 5% of all ovarian cancers and 80% of the preadolescent malignant ovarian tumours. SCSTs are rare neoplasms that account for approximately 3%–5% of ovarian malignancies and the majority of ovarian tumours with endocrine manifestations.
