Abstract

Drawing on job demands-resources (JD-R) theory, this study examines whether ICT adoption helps explain the relationship between employee engagement and task and citizenship performance. Data were collected from 280 teaching and non-teaching employees of technical universities in Ghana using a two-wave, four-week time-lagged survey. The proposed relationships were examined using a structural equation model. The findings indicate positive associations among the focal constructs and suggest an indirect role for ICT adoption. The study contributes contextual evidence from a higher-education system undergoing institutional and digital change. It considers ICT adoption as a behavioural mechanism through which engaged employees may translate their investment in work into performance.
