Abstract

The article examines the fundamental approaches to the practical implementation of sustainable development ideas within regional networks of Ukraine's architectural and urban planning heritage sites. These approaches are based on the theoretical and methodological principles of urban planning and forecasting, linked to the introduction of a systems-environmental approach. This involves the application of innovative synergistic, socionic, and ethnosocionic methods, as well as the incorporation of non-scientific, mythopoetic, and symbolic representations characteristic of traditional regional cultures. The integration of these fundamental principles into practical activities creates the preconditions for updating and improving urban planning documentation at the local level. This aims to revive national identity, emphasize regional distinctiveness, preserve the traditional character of historical settlements, and enhance heritage protection activities through the engagement of creative economy principles and other means of increasing the resilience of local communities. Drawing upon master's thesis projects from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, the article demonstrates potential directions for implementing these ideas in scientific research and design developments focused on ensuring the sustainable development of territories within several territorial communities and settlements in Eastern, Southern, Western, and Northern Ukraine. Final qualification works dedicated to the study of the specific features of sustainable development in territorial communities and the architectural and planning development of individual settlements demonstrate the broad range of design ideas when they address the urgent tasks of the respective region while simultaneously fostering local architectural and urban planning traditions.
