Cross-cutting issues—such as gender equality, human rights, climate change, environmental sustainability, and conflict—transcend individual projects and shape the overall success of development initiatives. Addressing these dimensions ensures that interventions are inclusive, equitable, and resilient. This paper explores strategies for integrating cross-cutting concerns into development practice, highlighting case studies such as SEWA in India, the Green Belt Movement in Kenya, and Afghanistan’s National Solidarity Programme. By adopting gender-sensitive, rights-based, environmentally sustainable, and conflict-sensitive approaches, non-profit organizations (NPOs) can strengthen the long-term impact of their work. These issues represent not just thematic priorities but structural imperatives that determine the viability and fairness of global development.
