Abstract

In the context of a multilingual society, such as that of the Republic of Moldova, acquiring the competence to communicate in Romanian becomes an imperative not only educationally, but also socially, economically and civically. The present paper aims to highlight the importance of lexicographic tools developed within the Institute of Romanian Philology "Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu" for the training of educated speakers of Romanian, with an emphasis on the Thematic Explanatory Dictionary. The analysis is carried out in relation to the priorities of European and national language policies, emphasizing the role of lifelong education and social inclusion.
