Key Points

  • Identified potato varieties achieving yields above 40 t/ha in varied conditions, with specific varieties excelling in each maturity group.
  • The early ripening group includes varieties Ariel, Carmen, and Gulliver, while Krasa and Konkurent lead in mid-early yield metrics.
  • Observational analyses conducted at the FAT-AGRO experimental base highlight robustness against environmental fluctuations.
  • Results suggest certain varieties show remarkable resistance to common potato diseases, indicating potential for reliable production.

Abstract

Based on the results of studying the adapted potato varieties by productivity, their plasticity and stability in different agrometeorological conditions of the foothill zone of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania were determined. Potato varieties that form consistently high yields in changing environmental conditions were identified. The studies were conducted at the experimental base of FAT-AGRO LLC in the Prigorodny district of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The following varieties stood out in terms of productivity above 40 t/ha: from the early ripening group - Ariel (46.6 t/ha), Carmen (46.0 t/ha) and Gulliver (44.0 t/ha); from the mid-early group - Krasa (63.8 t/ha), Konkurent (49.2 t/ha), Prime (49.0 t/ha) and Flamingo (47.5 t/ha); from the mid-season group – Krasa Meshchery (56.1 t/ha), Vostorg (52.8 t/ha), Mirage (39.8 t/ha) and Alaska (39.6 t/ha). Visual records of diseases on potato plants revealed the absence of black leg. Resistance to viral diseases of potatoes is characteristic of the varieties Gulliver, Gala, Gorsky, Konkurent, Krasa, Krasa Meshchery, Tango, Evpatiy, Vostorg, Grand and Sifra.
