Abstract

In today's hyperconnected world, remote work and digital accessibility have become standard, blurring the lines between professional and personal life. While this flexibility offers many benefits, it has also increased the risk of technostress—the psychological strain caused by excessive use of technology. Technostress is linked to burnout, particularly among healthcare professionals, with studies reporting high levels of stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. This article addresses the growing concern of technostress and offers a proactive framework for managing it. An acrostic of the word balance offers seven actionable strategies for cultivating a healthier work–life equilibrium: breathe, align, laugh, adjust, say no, create, and exercise. Each strategy is grounded in current research and includes practical steps such as mindfulness, boundary-setting, reflective journaling, and movement-based interventions. The article emphasizes the importance of personal vision, intentional living, and self-care in achieving balance. The balance framework encourages a shift from glorifying busyness to embracing meaningful, value-aligned living. The strategies outlined aim to empower individuals, especially nurses and professionals navigating digital fatigue, to manage their energy, reduce burnout, and reclaim a sense of peace and purpose in their personal and professional lives.
