Abstract

Molecular tools have revolutionized the field of plant breeding, enabling rapid and precise improvement in crop genetics. This review highlights the key advancements in molecular breeding techniques including molecular markers, next-generation sequencing (NGS), genome-wide association studies (GWAS), CRISPR-Cas systems, marker-assisted selection (MAS), and genomic selection (GS). The paper explores how these technologies have enhanced the efficiency of crop improvement programs, reduced breeding cycles, and enabled the development of climate-resilient, high-yielding, and disease-resistant varieties.
