Key Points

  • Students taught with the ethnoscience-based physics e-module exhibited significantly improved critical thinking skills.
  • The expert assessment reported a validity value exceeding the acceptable threshold, confirming its quality and relevance.
  • The 4D development model guided the creation and assessment of the e-module, ensuring thorough validation and practicality.
  • Independent sample t-test results indicated a significant difference in critical thinking skills, highlighting the e-module's effectiveness.

Abstract

This research is a research and development (R&D) that aims to produce a product in the form of a valid, practical, and effective ethnoscience-based physics e-module in physics learning. This research was tested at SMAN 5 Kendari on 72 students, consisting of 36 students in the experimental class who were taught using the ethnoscience-based physics e-module and 36 students who were not taught using the ethnoscience-based physics e-module, and involving 10 physics teachers Southeast Sulawesi. The development model used is the 4D model consisting of define, design, development, and disseminate. The e-module that has been developed is then tested for validity using Aiken's V. Based on the results of the expert assessment, the developed physics e-module is declared valid and suitable for use in every aspect of the assessment, which includes the feasibility of content, presentation, language, and graphics. Furthermore, based on the results of the practitioner's assessment for all aspects, the ethnoscience-based physics e-module is in the very practical category. For effectiveness can be seen from the results of critical thinking skills tests of students in the experimental class and control class. Before conducting the independent sample t-test, a prerequisite test was first conducted, namely the normality test and the homogeneity test. After both prerequisite tests were met, a t-test was conducted and a value of 3.66 > 1.99 was obtained. This means that there is a significant difference between the results of the critical thinking skills test of students who were taught using the ethnoscience-based physics e-module and students who were not taught using the ethnoscience-based physics e-module in class XI students of SMAN 5 Kendari. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the ethnoscience-based physics e-module developed is valid, practical, and effective for use in physics learning. .
