Abstract

In recent years, urban renewal activities have been widely carried out all over the world. However, with the promotion of urban renewal, the contradiction between cultural heritage protection and urban renewal has become increasingly prominent. How to deal with the relationship between heritage protection and urban development in the process of rapid urbanization is both a practical problem and a theoretical problem. By using the methods of literature analysis and case analysis, this paper expounds on the protection of cultural heritage in urban renewal from the perspective of public policy, summarizes the practices of cultural heritage protection in Beijing, China, and Paris, analyzes their experiences and shortcomings, and based on this, puts forward corresponding policy suggestions.
