Abstract

This study focuses on the synthesis and characterization of cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin films prepared via thermal evaporation for potential use in photovoltaic applications. Thin films were deposited on glass substrates and subjected to structural and electrical characterization. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the polycrystalline nature of the films with a preferred orientation along the (111) plane. The grain size and crystallinity were found to improve with increasing annealing temperature. Electrical properties such as resistivity, carrier concentration, and mobility were determined using Hall effect measurements. The results demonstrate that optimized thermal evaporation conditions can significantly enhance the quality and electrical performance of CdTe films, suggesting their viability for efficient solar cell fabrication.
