Integrated Dimension of the Natural Resource Potential of the Land-Sea Contact Zone (Context of the Development of the Aquatic Food System of Ukraine)

Topicality. In the context of radical transformations of the modern world, characterized by the escalation of international and regional conflicts, increased aggression in international relations, and environmental degradation, the issue of preserving and efficiently utilizing the natural resource potential of the state gains particular importance. These challenges significantly affect the interests of Ukraine, which is currently experiencing depletion due to the war initiated by the russian federation. Under such circumstances, Ukraine faces critical survival challenges that include both the cessation of hostilities with full preservation of state sovereignty and the establishment of a foundation for ensuring food security and sustainable development. Despite the difficulties of wartime, Ukraine possesses sufficient potential (organizational, industrial, scientific, and natural-resource) to address current problems. Aim and tasks. The aim of this study is to examine certain theoretical-methodological and applied aspects of the analysis of the natural resource potential for the development of marine aquaculture (mariculture) in coastal regions (the Ukrainian Black Sea area). This potential, due to its scale and specific characteristics, is unique and theoretically sufficient to address the challenges of supplying the population and sectors of Ukraine’s national economy with marine-derived products and raw materials. Materials and Methods. The materials for this study include the results of fundamental and applied research in the socio-economic and economic-ecological fields. The study employs various scientific methods such as comprehensive data analysis, hypothesis formulation, and theoretical research methods including abstraction, analysis and synthesis, idealization, induction and deduction, as well as mental modeling. Research results. The main results of the study are related to the development of the following issues: socio-ecological-economic analysis of the «land-sea» system; integrated potential for the development of marine economic sectors; parametric measurement of the natural resource potential of the land-sea contact zone; socio-ecological-economic functions of natural coastal zone systems as management objects; axiological model of the natural resource potential. Conclusion. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the issues concerning the natural resource potential of the land-sea contact zone as the foundation for the development of marine economic sectors, recommendations have been formulated for the advancement of marine sciences (within the framework of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development). Special emphasis is placed both on the necessity of developing state programs related to the growth of the aquaculture food system through the creation of a highly efficient marine aquaculture complex and on the comprehensive exploration of biological, mineral, energy, and other resources of the marine sphere.
