Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of breeding resources of cattle in the dairy sector of productivity of the Volga Federal District. The data of productivity indicators determining the profitability of dairy cattle breeding are presented. In the context of the regions, the following breeds are considered: Ayshirskaya, Bestuzhevskaya, Simmental, black-mottled, Holstein, red-mottled, Kholmogorskaya, brown Shvitskaya, red Gorbatovskaya, red steppe and Suksunskaya. In 2023, 9228.5 thousand tons of milk were produced in the Volga Federal District, and, taking into account the number of animals and their productivity, the largest amount of milk is provided by such breeds as: Holstein, black-mottled and Simmental. Also, unique breeds are of particular interest for the further development of dairy cattle breeding in the region: Kholmogorskaya, brown Shvitskaya, Krasnaya Gorbatovskaya and Kostroma.
