Abstract

Aim: To identify violations of the rights of persons who use psychoactive substances through the analysis of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights within the framework of the implementation of the right to a fair trial in cases related to illicit drug trafficking, and to propose directions for reducing their negative impact on public health.. Materials and Methods: The methodological basis of the article is a set of methods and techniques of scientific knowledge. Conclusions: Respect for the rights of persons who use psychoactive substances, including their full exercise of the right to a fair trial, remains a key element of the rule of law, particularly in the context of protecting their lives and public health, and is an obligation of the state.
