Abstract

Objective:This study aimed to investigate the effect of different pediatric multivitamins and mineral supplements on the discoloration and surface roughness of various resin based restorative materials. Materials and Methods:40 samples of nanohybrid(Charisma Topaz,Kulzer,Germany) and 40 samples of microhybrid (Charisma Classic,Kulzer,Germany) composite resin were prepared with standard size molds. Baseline color measurement(T1) was made from each sample based on CIE L*a*b* system.Each sample was immersed in 5 different pediatric multivitamin and mineral supplements(iron, Sambucus nigra, resveratrol, propolis and distilled water) for 7 days.Color differences in each specimen were assessed using Δ𝐸∗ values measured with a spectrophotometer on day 1(T2) and day 7(T3).One sample from each group was randomly selected and stereo microscope images were obtained and surface roughness evaluated.Normal distribution was checked by Shapiro Wilk test and then repeated measures ANOVA was employed for statistical analysis.Statistical significance was defined at 0.05.
