Abstract This article, prepared at the request of the editor, might be called a guide for those foresters who hope some day to manage a private forest property. Mr. Churchill, with long experience as a private forester, is particularly well qualified to suggest the course the forester in private employ should follow if he aspires to put his property on a permanent production basis.
