Abstract Will wood hold its present place and compete successfully with metals, plastics, and other materials after the war? This article poses the question and describes briefly some of the outstanding developments in wood use and modification which should aid materially in meeting consumer demand for service. An increase in the over-all use of wood is predicted for the postwar period.
