Abstract The author describes the present situation and major forest problems in the Appalachian region and gives his view of the outstanding postwar needs for forestry in that region. He outlines what, in his opinion, needs to be done by the public and by private individuals for forest resources and forest industry to participate effectively in peacetime readjustment and to contribute to full employment and income both in the immediate future and in the long run.
