Changes have been made to the training system in higher military educational institutions, in particular, the amount of training time allocated to practical professional training in conditions close to combat has been significantly increased. Many scholars have emphasised that, under these conditions, the current physical training programme for cadets does not allow for the fully effective development and improvement of physical qualities and military skills in the process of training and combat activities at higher military educational institutions. This scientific article presents an analysis of the dynamics of the level of special physical fitness (military skills and abilities) of second-year cadets. Forty-five second-year cadets from tank units took part in the study. Analysis of the level of special physical fitness (military skills and abilities) of cadets showed that, despite positive changes in cadets' indicators during the experiment, no significant difference was found (p>0.05).
