Abstract

This article is devoted to the mythological themes in the works of Yury Polyakov, such as The Goat in Milk , The Mushroom King , Sovchildhood and others. The work analyzes three subtypes of mythologems reproduced by the author: a modification of the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea, reinterpreted in the grotesque combination “the creator and his creation”; folk tales about the Mushroom King and the healer-witch of Mordovia; myths about the Soviet Union. These mythologems demonstrate the diversity of the author’s artistic techniques and motifs. The purpose of the article is to identify the functions of these mythologems.
