Abstract

Aim: The aim of the study is to present the history of the development of on-site interviewing in Hungary and to lay the foundations for its future development. Methodology: The author elaborates on the topic through an extensive analysis of the Hungarian literature and legislative changes, as well as by examining individual case studies. Findings: For a long time, it was also debated whether forensics was a separate method, and later whether it was a separate procedural act. At times, even its name was debated, until it was finally enshrined in law as a ‘helyszíni kihallgatás’ (on-site interview). Nowadays, thanks to the outstanding work of many criminalists, a combined source of evidence has been created which can validate the veracity of the possibilities offered by personal evidence in a material context. Value: The main directions of future research and studies are usability, documentation possibilities, rational applicability and evidential power, as we are not talking about an established and stagnant concept, but about an innovative method of criminalistics tactics.
