Abstract

Nowadays, the educational system is being transformed globally, which dictates new requirements necessary for the successful realization of professional practice. One of such conditions is constant self-improvement to solve the arising problems, however, in pedagogical work, in particular of educational psychologists, it is impossible to realize the above requirement without ability of diagnostic competence. The article presents information about diagnostic competence not only as a tool for identifying and overcoming difficulties in learning activities, but also as a condition for successful adaptation of first-graders through the diagnosis of fears. The results of the research on the topic «Diagnostic competence of educational psychologist can act as a condition for successful adaptation of first-grade children through diagnostics of fears and subsequent correctional work» are also presented. The purpose of this study is to research the diagnosis of the psychological component of adaptation of first-graders, which contributes to overcoming not only social realization, but also to the maintenance of educational work. The experiment involved 36 first grade students, with an equal division by gender. Analysis of the data obtained confirms the presence of social fears at this age, and also shows an inverse proportional relationship with the child's self-esteem. A practical case study with diagnostics and a corrective program was presented, emphasizing the importance of knowledge of diagnostic competence and its timely implementation for adaptation of first-graders
