Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to compare and analyze literature and regulations related to Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Cost (RAM-C) in the South Korean and U.S. military contexts, while also exploring the development directions of domestic regulations and procedures.BRMethods: The research entails an examination of RAM-C-related procedures and literature used by the Department of Defense in both South Korea and the U.S. To achieve this objective, relevant regulations for both the U.S. military and domestic settings are categorized according to the stages of weapon system development. This study presents these regulations in a comparative framework, highlighting their interconnectedness and discerning any differences.BRResults: Differences across eight categories are identified, and six improvement strategies are proposed to address these disparities.BRConclusion: Domestic regulations exhibit fragmentation compared to the regulations of the U.S. military. Following the identification of these issues, potential methods for improving these differences have been proposed.
