Abstract

The European Commission has highlighted as an example of good practice the process of urban and energy rehabilitation promoted in the Poblado Dirigido de Orcasitas (Madrid), pointing out the role of Spain as a driving force on building renovation. This work studies the feasibility of building renovation of the district with low environmental impact materials.Specifically, the use of recycled wood paneling as building envelope insulation material. From a Life Cycle Analysis point of view, an energy, environmental and economic analysis is performed, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the use of wood as an alternative to conventional insulating materials.
