Key Points

  • Active participation promotes scientific research engagement among citizens, enhancing community involvement.
  • Data quality and standardization pose challenges in open access, emphasizing the need for ethical standards.
  • Collaboration empowers citizens to influence and shape the scientific community through their contributions.
  • Public access to science supports transparency and reliability, bridging gaps between researchers and the public.

Abstract

We want to highlight here the importance of public access and participation in scientific research, a vital trend for future interactions. Historically, the scientific community has operated in a closed loop, but ‘open science’ is now transforming citizens from passive recipients to active participants. The key points are open access and citizen science. However, there are some challenges including ensuring data quality and standardization, upholding ethical standards, valuing citizen contributions, and improving digital accessibility. We are offering to enhance research transparency and reliability by bridging the gap between science and citizens.
