Abstract

This study aims to analyze the research status of exercise interventions for type 2 diabetes at home and abroad over the past decade, revealing research hotspots and trends to provide a theoretical basis for diabetes prevention, treatment, and the formulation of personalized exercise prescriptions. Based on the CiteSpace software, relevant literature from 2015 to 2025 was retrieved from the CNKI core journals and the Web of Science (WOS) database. A bibliometric analysis was conducted from multiple dimensions, including annual publication volume, author and institutional collaboration, country/region cooperation, keyword co-occurrence and burst analysis, and knowledge mapping. (1) The number of publications in China remained relatively stable, while international publication volume showed a gradual upward trend; (2) Compared with domestic institutions, international institutional collaboration was more intensive; (3) High-frequency keywords in Chinese literature focused on metabolic regulation aspects such as “aerobic exercise” and “blood glucose,” while international studies placed greater emphasis on interdisciplinary mechanisms such as “physical activity” and “insulin resistance”; (4) Burst keyword analysis indicated that domestic research hotspots are gradually shifting toward emerging fields like gut microbiota and sarcopenia, while international studies are delving into cutting-edge directions such as molecular mechanisms and digital interventions. (1) Domestic research emphasizes exercise prescriptions and metabolic improvement, but lacks interdisciplinary collaboration; in contrast, international research highlights the broad concept of physical activity and its associations with psychological and physiological factors, with more mature technological integration; (2) Future efforts should strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration and build intelligent, personalized, and full-course intervention systems to achieve more scientific and effective prevention and treatment of diabetes.
