Abstract

Abstract In South America, the province of Corrientes (Argentina) constitutes a zone where five ecoregions converge, enhancing its biodiversity. However, incomplete data integration on vascular plants may lead to an underestimation of its actual biodiversity. This study compiles and systematizes botanical data, providing an updated overview of vascular plant diversity and creating a database to assess species distribution, conservation status, and knowledge gaps across its different ecoregions. The flora of Corrientes comprises approximately 3169 taxa (species, subspecies, and varieties) from 173 families, Poaceae and Asteraceae being the most well-represented. The Esteros del Iberá and Campos y Malezales ecoregions exhibit the highest species richness and number of threatened species. Geographical information system analyses reveal conservation priorities and fragmented biodiversity data across ecoregions. To enhance biodiversity management, efforts should address biases in botanical collection, reassess species conservation status, and expand protected areas. This database constitutes a critical tool for future research, conservation planning, and biodiversity monitoring at a regional scale.
