Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed educational practices, particularly in the field of language learning. In English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education, AI-powered tools such as intelligent tutoring systems, chatbots, speech recognition software, and adaptive learning platforms offer new opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and learner engagement. This study explores the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence tools in English language learning at the high school level. Using a qualitative-descriptive research approach supported by a review of recent empirical studies and classroom-based observations, the paper examines how AI tools contribute to the development of language skills, learner autonomy, motivation, and personalized learning. The findings suggest that AI tools can significantly support vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation accuracy, speaking fluency, and formative assessment while reducing learner anxiety. However, challenges related to teacher preparedness, ethical concerns, and unequal access to technology are also identified. The study concludes that AI, when integrated thoughtfully, can serve as a powerful complement to traditional English instruction in secondary education.
