Key Points

  • The aim is to present a framework for understanding structural coherence in biological and mechanical systems.
  • Developed a recursive framework with interlinked operators for structural integrity.
  • Validated framework through applications in soft robotics and mechanobiology.
  • Utilized predictive modeling for failure and regenerative design.
  • Established a unified logic for growth, rupture, and regeneration across systems.
  • Demonstrated successful applications in modeling adaptive tensioning.
  • Provided a framework that bridges living and engineered systems.

Abstract

This paper presents the Cohesion Glyph, a recursive and multi-scale framework designedto model the lifecycle of structural coherence in both biological and mechanical systems. The framework establishes a set of interlinked operators: the Cohesion Constant,Saturation Point, Lifespan Function, Elasticity Gradient Map, and Recovery Loop. Byintegrating these elements, the Cohesion Glyph provides a unified logic for growth, rupture, and regeneration, all within a single symbolic topology. Validation is demonstrated throughapplications in soft robotics and mechanobiology, where the framework supportspredictive modeling of failure, adaptive tensioning, and regenerative design. Importantly, the glyph functions as a recursive operator—encoding the logic of coherence acrossnested scales—and is not intended as a metaphor. This work bridges the divide betweenliving tissues and engineered machines, serving as a canonical reference for systems thatare designed to endure, adapt, and heal.
