Abstract

Abstract We analyze the properties of singularity (double and triple) point affected by symmetry of the model. We select the most general case with singularity point on the vertical axis of the monoclinic model with a horizontal symmetry plane. This symmetry significantly narrows the curvature degeneracy classes for double and triple singularity points. We also analyze the Gaussian and mean curvatures of the slowness surface in vicinity of singularity point and define few special cases depending on selection of stiffness coefficients. The curvature wedge cases are discussed. We also define the parabolic lines associated with singularity point.
