Abstract

Our results quantitatively reveal large-scale variation and redundancy in gut microbial metabolism and identify dietary compounds linked to only a few microbial species. These findings improve understanding of microbe-metabolite interactions and provide a foundation for the rational design of microbiome-based interventions for healthy benefits. Video Abstract.
