Abstract

This document pertains to choosing the most suitable topology between the three-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) and the Flying Capacitor (FC) inverters. Since they are the topologies most commonly used with a single voltage source, to thoroughly evaluate the performance of these topologies, it is necessary to implement a control strategy for multi-level inverters that generate a voltage closer to a sinusoidal waveform. Various pulse-width modulation strategies have been employed to achieve this, including space vector modu- lation (SVM), which is known for its efficiency in minimizing harmonics. Real operating conditions within a grid-connected photovoltaic conversion system are built to test NPC and FC robustness. All the simulations have been performed under MATLAB/Simulink.
