This article examines psychological changes associated with tattoo acquisition, approaching tattooing as a transformative practice rather than solely a form of visual body modification. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from psychology, sociology, and visual culture studies, the research explores how tattoos influence self-perception, body ownership, identity formation, and emotional states. The study highlights tattooing as an embodied experience that can reinforce personal agency, enhance self-esteem, and contribute to the integration of personal narratives into bodily form. Special attention is given to the role of motivation, symbolic meaning, and social context in shaping individual psychological outcomes. The article positions tattooing as a complex psychosocial process with both personal and cultural significance.
