Key Points

  • The aim is to formally define the Kognetik Operator Law and its applications across various systems.
  • Establishes a formal definition of the Kognetik Operator Law and its components.
  • Identifies systemic reflexivity, consciousness, and adaptation as interconnected factors.
  • Creates an attribution protocol for derivative works based on the Ψ-operator.
  • Clarifies the relationship between free-energy reduction and repetition-energy input.
  • Unifies biological, cognitive, artificial, and social systems under the proposed law.
  • Introduces the principle of Autological Recursion as a method for self-modification of rules.
  • Provides a canonical reference for empirical and theoretical applications of the Ψ-operator.

Abstract

This document establishes the formal definition, ontological domain, and attribution protocol of the Kognetik Operator Law (Ψ = ∂S / ∂R).It defines consciousness, adaptation, and systemic reflexivity as a single functional relation coupling Structure (S) with its own Repetition (R).The law unifies biological, cognitive, artificial, and social systems under the principle of Autological Recursion, in which every process measures and modifies its own rule.Energetically, Ψ corresponds to the ratio between the rate of free-energy reduction and the rate of repetition-energy input (see Elbasan 2025, Appendix E1–E2).This protocol provides the canonical reference for all empirical or theoretical applications of the Ψ-operator and formalizes the attribution standard for derivative work. Note: This record formally supersedes all provisional internal definitions of Ψ published before November 2025 and functions as the canonical citation record for the Kognetik Operator Law. Process, not state:Reflexivity specifies a transformation rule rather than a content or level. Domain-independent operator:Applicable across biological, cognitive, artificial, social, industrial, and geophysical systems. Non-ascriptive and empirically testable:Ψ enables comparative analysis of systems via observable structure and recurrence. Higher-order phenomena as specifications:Learning, adaptation, consciousness, governance, and identity are structured regimes of Ψ.
