Abstract

Approximately 70% of new nurses will leave their first job within 3 years. Based on the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Mentor Program, a mentorship program was conducted for new nurse mentees and mentors. The Mentor Self-Assessment, Mentoring Program Satisfaction, and the Job Satisfaction Scale were used. Job satisfaction for mentees ( N =6) increased following the program ( t =−3.53, p =.02). Mentors ( N =6) reported more experience in mentorship behaviors following the program. Mentees were satisfied with the mentorship program.
