Abstract

Anesthesia management for pulmonary hypertension combined with thrombocytopenia is a challenge for anesthesiologists, especially during pregnancy. We report a case of single‐shot spinal anesthesia with a low dose of hyperbaric bupivacaine for cesarean delivery in a patient with severe pulmonary artery hypertension and thrombocytopenia. Management of pulmonary hypertension in thrombocytopenic pregnancy is highly complex and demands coordinated efforts among obstetricians‐gynecologists, anesthesiologists, and cardiologists. Careful consideration of the pros and cons of each anesthesia method and appropriate platelet transfusion strategy, along with close hemodynamic monitoring, contributed to the successful management of anesthesia in these patients.
