Key Points

  • The aim is to evaluate the habitat suitability for ayu fish in the Monobe River's planned channel after flooding.
  • Applied the habitat suitability index developed by Tashiro et al. to assess current river conditions.
  • Matched results with monitoring data to confirm the efficacy of the evaluation method.
  • Analyzed changes in habitat quality post-flood in the planned channel.
  • Investigated the impact of stone placement on flow diversity.
  • Measured the area with a CSI value above 0.7.
  • The area with a CSI value of 0.7 or higher increased post-flood.
  • Qualitative improvements in habitat quality were observed after flood events.
  • Introduction of stone placement created flow diversity, benefiting the resting environment for ayu.
