Abstract

Objective: This work highlights the potential of 2-oxopyridine and imidazole blends as powerful medicinal agents by examining their antibacterial properties. Because of their many therapeutic uses, such as antifungal, anticancer, antibacterial, antiviral, and antihypertensive properties, 2-oxopyridine and imidazole derivatives have garnered significant attention. Methodology: A reliable synthetic process was created to produce a number of chemicals 5a–5s in order to investigate their potential for therapeutic use. With the use of sophisticated analytical methods like LC-MS, 1H NMR, and elemental analysis, the structures of the recently synthesized compounds were verified. Additionally, the antibacterial effectiveness of each produced molecule was evaluated against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative species. Results and Discussion: The synthesized compounds showed variable antibacterial activity. Halogen-substituted derivatives, particularly iodinated and fluorinated analogues, exhibited enhanced Gram-positive and Gram-negative inhibition, indicating substitution-dependent structure–activity relationships. Conclusion: This study opens the door for further research into the clinical implications of 2-oxopyridine and imidazole blends for treating microbial problems by offering insightful information about their therapeutic potential.
