Abstract

The study examines water harvesting systems' impact on agricultural productivity in northern Ethiopian villages. Structured interviews, focus group discussions, and observations were conducted among farmers to evaluate the efficacy of water harvesting systems. Water harvesting significantly increased crop yields by an average of 35% in selected villages compared to traditional irrigation methods. Water harvesting systems are effective in enhancing agricultural productivity and farmer incomes in northern Ethiopian villages. Government investment should be directed towards expanding water harvesting infrastructure to support sustainable agriculture and rural development.
