Abstract

The Central African Republic (CAR) has faced significant governance challenges over its history, including civil wars and political instability. A mixed-methods design will be employed, integrating semi-structured interviews with government officials and civil society representatives with secondary data analysis of archival records and official documents. Interviews revealed that historical conflicts such as the Christian-Muslim divide contributed to governance failures, while quantitative analysis showed a significant increase in corruption levels since independence. The findings suggest that understanding past conflicts is crucial for mitigating current governance challenges in CAR. Policy recommendations include strengthening inter-community dialogue and enhancing transparency measures to address corruption effectively.
