Forms of Pseudo-Creation in the Context of Ersatz-Culture. Part 3. Dilettantism

The object of this research is modern culture, the crisis state of which is largely caused by the displacement of the paradigm of professional mastery by superficial amateurish orientations and the infiltration of dilettantism into various areas of professional being. The subject of the research is dilettantism as a cultural phenomenon that permeates many areas of human activity related to science, art, creation and craft. Dilettantism as an enthusiastic amateur, claiming expert status, is justified as one of the forms of pseudo-creation, manifested in the above-mentioned fields of activity. The research objective is to attempt a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of dilettantism and explication of its essential characteristics in the context of creative activity. The scientific novelty of the presented research lies in the multidimensional consideration of dilettantism as a cultural phenomenon and the disclosure of the peculiarities of the manifestation of dilettantism in various cultural spheres related to creative activity. The paper offers a consolidated definition of dilettantism, provides modern ways of conceptualizing the phenomenon under study, and describes a continuum approach to the relationship between professionalism and dilettantism. The research reveals the socio-cultural, subjective and epistemological levels of dialectical interaction between dilettantism and professionalism, as well as the reasons for the degeneration of professionalism into dilettantism and examples of the creative influence of dilettantism on professional activity. In addition, the research describes the pseudo-creative orientations of dilettantism, fueled by the principles of postmodern philosophy, points out the positive aspects and consequences of the dilettante “style” of activity, and reveals the differences between genuine and false creative dilettantism.
