This article explores the theoretical framework for understanding psychological challenges and opportunities in post-conflict African states, with a specific focus on Kenya following the Mungiki insurgency. This article employs a theoretical approach, drawing on existing research and literature specifically from Africa to inform its analysis. The theoretical framework highlights the critical role of community-based support systems and mental health services in facilitating recovery and resilience. Recommendations include the establishment of comprehensive psychological support programmes, training for local healthcare providers, and fostering community-led initiatives to address ongoing trauma.
