Extreme Makeover in Prosthodontics- A Non-Orthodontic Approach to Anterior Crossbite

AbstractA well-aligned anterior (front) dentition enhances an individual’s smile and confidence. Any trauma to these teeth can be a distressing experience. When deviations from standard treatment planning occur due to patient-specific needs, extensive evaluation and meticulous planning are essential for clinical success.To achieve a predictable aesthetic outcome, smile design principles and treatment planning protocols were modified to suit this case. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns or porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns with labial porcelain veneers offer a viable solution for patients with an upper anterior crossbite who are unable to undergo orthodontic therapy. Successful treatment outcomes depend on thorough patient evaluation, precise prosthetic design, proper tooth preparation, and diligent oral hygiene maintenance.This case report presents a female patient who was dissatisfied with the appearance of her crowded teeth and had repeatedly declined orthodontic treatment before being recommended for a specialized restorative procedure. The technique used to correct an anterior dental crossbite—without extraction—was simple, efficient, safe, and cost-effective. Additionally, it required minimal clinical visits and caused no discomfort to the patient.
