Key Points

  • Summarize the advancements in superconductivity research over the past decade and its implications.
  • Review of historical milestones in superconductivity
  • Analysis of current research trends in hydrogen-rich materials
  • Discussion of topics related to the Physics of Metals and Metallography
  • Identification of superconductivity in pressurized H3S as a pivotal discovery

Abstract

The discovery of superconductivity in pressurized H3S by Mikhail Eremets’ group in 2014 1 represents the third fundamental milestone in the history of superconductivity, following those of Kamerlingh Onnes 2 and Bednorz and Müller 3. In this special issue, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the discovery of high-temperature superconducting hydrogen-rich materials, we aim to present the current state of research in superconductivity, focusing on the traditional topics covered by Physics of Metals and Metallography.
