Abstract

This employee scale provides a holistic look about how engagement can be measured and developed. The Graham employee engagement scale is based on an employee lifeworlds because it is essential to consider everything about an individual and their environment to understand, predict, and change behavior such as engagement. Understanding the totality of an employee’s situation in terms of corporeality, spatiality, relationality, and temporality, and all coexisting factors (variables under each perspective) helps in gaining the understanding about the true picture of an employee’ s behavior or engagement. The level and presence or absence of engagement depends on the extent of the variables of corporeality (body), spatiality (space), relationality (relationships), and temporality (time). This employee engagement scale is valuable for understanding, assessing, and developing employee engagement. The Graham Employee Engagement Scale howcases the four overarching elements that must be examined, i.e., body, time, space, and relations in determining the level of engagement and the elements to address in building engagement.
